Does your plugin support updating VM 2/0 manufacturer field?

Sorry, not at the moment mate. I will put it on my ‘to add’ list.

When I load all items from all categories, there are about 100 items in the table.
When I try to load single categories, some of them seem to be empty, even if I have items in that category.
Others have 1 item, even if there should be 10 or so… How can I get this fixed?

Thanks again!

Hi Jochen, this is an unsupported plugin, the best option is to dive in and have a look at the code!

That being said, a little support can’t hurt 😉 when items are copied / cloned in Virtuemart it does not write the full product to the database correctly. If there is an incomplete product the bulk editor can not read it.

This is most likely the problem. Try to open an item in Virtuemart and press save, this will force VM to write the full product to the database and it should become visible in the bulk editor.

Most of the data filled in the virtuemart database in my setup is done through a python script.

What i always need to do afterwards is supply the pictures. I usually do a search on google and download the image from the manufacturers website. If I could have a suggested image to choose from in this plugin, it would be an enormous time-saver.

This extension saved my bacon last night after migrating an old Virtuemart site in Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5. You have no idea how much time and trouble it saved me! Once you figure out that the custom fields in Virtuemart can only have ONE default value, and you add the rest via this tool, bulk application of custom fields becomes cinch. There’s one or two little bugs, but any experienced developer can work around them and even find quick fixes. Hopefully this will be available for Joomla 3.x too. Thanks a million!

Thanks for the kind words!

I’ve found a lot of the ‘bugs’ in the code are more often than not just incompatibilities with admin themes as it relies so heavily on javascript. If you do come across a bug though please let us know, or even better send us a patch!

Hi, great extension but a couple of bug tweeks would help me if you could help. If my list of products was over approx. 15 they don’t show in the list, they are there to be seen when clicking some filters but no scroll bar to scroll down. I fixed this by adjusting the height of the display window.

Also, when the list is loaded and a price over £1000.00 is shown it inserts a comma (eg £1,000.00) This comma seems to cause a problem when changing the price. If I want to change £1,001.00 to £1,002.00 it will actually change it to £1.00. I actually think it maybe changing it to £1.00200 if you know what I mean. Is there a way to remove the comma completely because if I remove the comma and change £1001.00 to £1002.00 it will save ok. I have removed the comma (thousand separator) in the installed currency but Bulk Editor seems to still insert one. Thank you

Thanks for the bug report, I will check the code. Sounds like it’s not loading the currency format correctly. I will try and sort it over the weekend.

Hi, just wondering if you got a solution to the comma (thousand separator)? It would be great to have a fix for this. Thanks, Pat

Hi, Any luck with the currency format problem? Thank you

Hi. 1st of all thanks for this extension.
I just want to report that i’ve tryed to install and test the extension but when i click on “LOAD ITEMS” i got an Error message:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/user2/public_html/administrator/components/com_vmbulkupdate/templates/products.html.php on line 47
I’am using Joomla 2.5.14 and VM 2.0.20b
best regards

This error is caused by loading a category which is empty (or appears to be empty to the plugin).

If you copy / clone items in Virtuemart it does not write them fully to the database and the bulk editor can not find them to edit. If you open and save the item once to force virtuemart to fully write it, it should be fine.
